EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM
This Act amends the Advertisement Practitioners (Registration, etc) Act Cap. A7, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to increase the prescribed penalties and transfer appellate jurisdiction from the Court of Appeal to the High Court in a matter under the Act.

An Act to amend the Advertisement Practitioners (Registration, Etc.) Act Cap. A7, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to increase the prescribed penalties and transfer appellate jurisdiction from the Court of Appeal to the High Court in a matter under the Act; and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria—
Amendment of Cap. A7 LFN, 2004
Amendment of Cap A7 LFN 2004
(a) the words “a maximum fine of one thousand Naira” in line 4, the words, “a fine of five hundred thousand Naira”; and
(b) the words, “not less than one year or more than three years”, in line 7, “the words, “three years”.
Amendment of section 20
(a) in subsection (3) (a). By substituting for the words, “not exceeding five hundred Naira” in line 2, the words, “of one hundred thousand “Naira” and
(b) in subsection (3) (b), by substituting for the words, “not exceeding one thousand Naira or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding two years”, in line 2, the words, “of five hundred thousand Naira or to a term of imprisonment of two years”.
