EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the Bees (Import, Control and Management) Act. Cap, B6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 by reviewing the penalty and compensation provisions in order to make the Act more effective.

BEES (IMPORT, CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2016

An Act to amend the Bees (Import, Control and Management) Act Cap. B6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to review the penalty and compensation provisions in order to make the Act more effective, and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria—

Amendment of Cap. B6 LFN. 2004

1. The Bees (Import, Control and Management) Act Cap. B6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of section 5 (1)

2. Section 5 (1) of the Principal Act is amended—

(a)     in paragraph (a), by inserting, after the word “forty” and after the word, “hundred” the word, “thousand” and

(b)     in paragraph (b), by inserting, after the word, “hundred” in lines 2 and 3, the word. “thousand”

Amendment of section 6 (1)

3. Section 6 (1) of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the word, “forty” in line 6, the word, “thousand”

Citation.

4. This Act may be cited as the Bees (Import Control and Management) (Amendment) Act, 2016.
