FEDERAL HIGH COURT (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2005

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the Federal High Court Act, CAP. 134, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 to make provision for an increase in the number of Judges of the Federal High Court from fifty to seventy. The increase is intended to provide for the appointment in sufficient number of Judges for the existing Divisions of the Court and for new Divisions to be established.

FEDERAL HIGH COURT (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2005

An Act to amend the Federal High Court Act, CAP 134, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990 so as to make provision for an increase in the number of Judges of the Federal High Court.

 

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria:

 

Amendment of the Federal High Court Act Cap 134 LFN 1993 No. 46

  1. The Federal High Court Act (in this Act called “the Principal Act”) is amended as provided in this Act.

 

Amendment of 1993 No. 46

  1. Section 1 of the Principal Act, as amended by the Federal High Court (Amendment) Act 1993, is further amended by substituting for the word “fifty” in sub-section (2)(b), the word “seventy”.
