NATIONAL SUGAR DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL [AMENDMENT] ACT

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act seeks to amend the National Sugar Development Council Act to abolish the ten per cent surcharge on sugar imports and make provisions for alternate funding of the existing National Sugar Development Council.

NATIONAL SUGAR DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL ACT

An Act to amend the National Sugar Development Council Act, Cap, N78, LFN, 2004 and for matters connected therewith.

[26^TH MAY, 2015]           [Commencement.]

Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as follows—

Amendment of Cap N78, LFN.

1. The National Sugar Development Council Act (in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of Section 6.

2. 2. Section 6 of the principal Act is amended in Subsection (2) by substituting for the existing paragraph (a) the following new paragraph—

“(a)         such sums as may be appropriated, from year to year, by the National Assembly;”

Short Title.

3. This Act may be cited as the National Sugar Development Council (Amendment) Act, 2010.
