OATHS (AMENDMENT) ACT
EXPLANATORY MEMORADUM
This Act amends the Oaths Act Cap. 01, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to expressly mention in the Act all superior courts o records established after the Act came into force in 1963 among the list of courts authorized by the Act to administer Oats or Affirmation.

Amendment of section 10
Amendment of second schedule
(a) in the Second Column titled, “persons to take oath”, by inserting after the word, “Chief Judge and Judges of the Federal High Court”, the words, “the President and Judges of the National Industrial Court, Chief Judge and Judges of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Kadi and Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, President and Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja”; and
(b) in Third Column titled, “person to tender Oath”, by substituting for last item, a new item—
“A Commissioner for Oaths or a Registrar of the Supreme Court or of the Court of Appeal or of Federal High Court or of National Industrial Court or of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, or of a State High Court or of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital territory, Abuja, the Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja or a Sharia Court of Appeal of a State or of Customary Court of Appeal of a State authorized in that behalf by Chief Judge, the Grand Kadi or the President of the Court concerned.”
