EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the National Crop Varieties and Livestock Breeds (Registration. Etc.) Act. Cap. N27, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 by reviewing the penalties imposed under the Act.

NATIONAL CROP VARIETIES AND LIVESTOCK BREED (REGISTRATION, ETC.) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2016

An Act to amend the National Crop Varieties and Livestock Breeds (Registration. Etc.) Act. Cap. N27, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 by reviewing the penalties imposed under the Act; and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-

Amendment of Cap. N27 LFN 204

1. The National Crop Varieties Livestock Breeds (Registration, Etc) Act Cap N27. Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of section 8

2. Section 8 of the Principal Act is amended—

(a)     in subsection (2) by substituting for the expression. “N200”, in line 2. the expression. “N100,000”; and

(b)     in subsection (3), by substituting for the expression. “N5,000”, in line 5,  the expression. “N500,000”

Citation.

3. This Act may bee cited as the National Crop Varieties and Livestock Breeds (Registration, Etc.) (Amendment) Act. 2016.
