EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the National Judicial Institute Act, Cap. N55, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to specify the tenure of the office of the Administrator.

NATIONAL JUDICIAL INSTITUTE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2016

AN Act to amend the National Judicial Institute Act, Cap. N55, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, to specify the tenure of the office of the Administrator; and for related matters.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-

Amendment of Cap. N55 LFN 2004

1. The National Judicial Institute Act, Cap. N55, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of section 5

2. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by substituting for subsection (4), a new subsection “(4)”

*(4)   The administrator –

*(a)   shall hold office for term of four years in the first instance; and

(b)     may be appointed to a further of four years and no more.”

Citation

3. This Act may be cited as the National Judicial Institute (Amendment) Act, 2016.
