NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL ACT

An Act to rename the Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital Management Board as the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Hospital.

[10^th September, 1992]       [Commencement.]

1. Change of name of Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital

As from the commencement of this Act the Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital Management Board (in this Act referred to as “the Teaching Hospital”) established by the Anambra State University of Technology Teaching Hospital Management Board Edict 1988 shall be known and referred to as the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (in this Act referred to as “the Hospital”).

2. Board of management of the Hospital

There shall be established for the management of the Hospital a Board of management to be known as the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Board of Management (in this Act referred to as “the Board”) which shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued in its corporate name and may, for and in connection with the purposes of this Act, acquire, hold and dispose of movable and immovable property.

3. Composition and functions of the Board

The composition, functions and powers of the Board established under section 2 of this Act shall be as provided for in the University Teaching Hospitals (Reconstitution of Boards, etc.) Act.

4. Repeal of Edict No. 10 of 1988

The Anambra State University of  Technology Teaching Hospital Management Board Edict 1988 is hereby consequentially repealed and the Management Board constituted for the Teaching Hospital under that Edict is hereby dissolved.

5. Vesting of rights, etc.

Accordingly-

(a)    all the assets and liabilities held or incurred by or on behalf of the Teaching Hospital shall by virtue of this Act and without further assurance vest in the Hospital renamed by this Act and be held by it for the purposes of the Hospital;

(b)    all agreements, contracts deeds and other instruments to which the Teaching Hospital was a party shall, so far as possible and subject to any necessary modifications, have effect as if the Hospital re-named by this Act had been a party thereto in place of the Teaching Hospital.

6. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Act.
