EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment, Etc) Act, No. 6, 2000 [CAP. N86 L.F.N. 2004] to increase the funding of the Commission for effective discharge of its duties.

NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (ESTABLISHMENT, ETC) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2017

An Act to amend the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment, Etc) Act, No. 6, 2000 to increase the funding of the Commission for effective discharge of its duties; and for related matters.

Amendment of Act No. 6, 2000

1. The Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment, Etc.) Act No. 6, 2000 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”)

Amendment of section 14

2. Section 14 (2) of the Principal Act is amended, by substituting for paragraph (b), a new paragraph “(b)”;

(i)      the total annual budget of any oil producing company operating onshore and offshore, in the Niger Delta area; and

(ii)     the total annual budget of any gas processing company n the Niger Delta area, excluding the cost of feed gas”

Citation.

3. This Act may be cited as the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment, Etc) (Amendment) Act, 2017.
